Pines With red block SOLD original acrylic on paper, 11 x 22 Date: 04/06/13 This was the 3rd painting of the same group of pine trees. I wanted to get more graphic and so I stylized the background trees into a simple red block of color, squished the trees closer together, and simplified the color scheme. I was happy with the result and the painting sold at the reception.
Bendy Pines and Pond original pastel on pastelboard, 16x20 Date: 04/06/13 This was my first take on these pines. Wondering how to make interesting the tall skinny trees, I chose to exaggerate the bend in the central tree. I also chose to use pastel in a slightly impressionistic and pointillist style. Sorry for the bad photo, but this happens when painting en plein air! The rush to finish and get it in the frame.
Pines and Pond Original Acrylic on canvas 24 x 48 Date: 04/06/13 This is the second take on these pine trees. After the first I wanted to paint them on a tall canvas to capture the height. I was inspired by spring to push the pink color. Liking the drama, the background trees became raspberry red. I painted the pine boughs in pink and green to create a visual blur that imitated the way my eyes felt ehn looking up so high and into the light.
Saturated Aerography original acrylic on canvas, 8x10 Date: 04/06/13 This small painting depicts a fleeting moment in the morning when the sunrise turned everything orange. The heavy damp atmosphere became saturated with color, which affected how everything looked.
Dale Farm Pond original acrylic on canvas, 8x10 Date: 04/06/13 This little waterhole was partially dried up and partially covered with floating scum. I was inspired by the early spring yellow-green color of willows on the far bank and the rich greens of the other new spring growth.
Spring Willows at Pond original acrylic on canvas, 8x10 Date: 04/06/13 I felt inspired to capture a quick impression of the spring color of the willows on the far side of a small pond at Dale Farm. The color was electric and bold.
